Where it works
A crowd, a song, and everyone looking the same way.
The same thing is happening underneath every one of these: a room full of phones, one clock, and a show written from the music. What changes is the question you ask on the way in, and how the room is laid out.
Stadiums and school sport
Friday night football, homecoming, a basketball gym, a cheer routine timed to the mix. Ask which section people are in and a wave can cross the whole stand; ask home or visitor and the two sides can answer each other.
Stadiums and school sport →Weddings
The first dance with the room lit around it, the last song with everyone in it, and a bride-or-groom question on the way in that people enjoy answering before it ever does anything.
Weddings →Concerts and festivals
The crowd becomes part of the rig. When the audio is coming from the desk rather than from you, the host phone listens to the room and lines everyone up with what is actually playing.
Concerts and festivals →Conferences and corporate events
Brand colours across a ballroom, a product moment that lands on the beat, and a question on the way in that groups the room and tells you something about it at the same time.
Conferences and corporate →Also
Smaller rooms work too.
There is no minimum. A school hall, a bar, a company party, a birthday, a fundraiser, a church youth night, a graduation. If the lights can go down and people are holding phones, the same show works — a group of thirty reads perfectly well, and the preview will show you exactly how it will look at that size.
